THEME

A crashing noise shattered the morning, splintering oliver's dreams and waking him, blinking in the bright morning light. Elsewhere the same light was shining on jenna, who had been up for hours already hiking hills to inspect the fertility of the native flora. “woo!” Oliver shouted, leaping out of his bed, “I hope that wasn't another specimen escaping from the fertility lab and making a run for it to the lakes.” Near the great lakes is where Jenna was from, but what river had the creature she gazed at now taken to get to her? It seemed to be a mudpuppy of sorts, some overgrown salamander – not so much a diver dwelling animal, but something that crawled out of the sea. It seamed to have the sediments of the sea fused to it's mysterious ever changing surface, and it's teeth appeared to be pearls.

As Oliver rushed to the lab – sure enough, the glass case that held Fuxi was shattered and it was no where in sight. Beads of sweat the size of pearls began to form on his brow as he wondered what he'd tell the Danish Ambassadors. The only good thing about having a loose Fuxi was that it would herd the bees into unique geometric swarm clouds that the Danish Embassadors were known to find pleasing.

Soon the gardens around the lakes were filled with the sound of droning bees emerging from their hives - it sounded like a helicopter coming in for a landing - jenna looked up into the air and scowled. Her attitudes changed quickly through as the resonance of the bees precision humming caused the most unexpected precipitation of honey from the aether, or perhaps hives.

Racing back to his dressing – chamber, oliver dressed hastily as he sipped honey-sweetened coffee from the exquisitely patterned china given to him by the last set of ambassadors who came through from imperial china. The endless flow of ambassadors to his lab was less about his nearness to embassy row and more about his interest in ambassadors folkloric prowess, and chinese folklore was amongst his favorite. Of these, a curious series of sea tales were particularly noteworthy and had inspired him to genetically manipulate a series of salamander until it resembled a creature from chinese folklore. The half human and half fish Fuxi.

Watching her own reflection in the pools of honey growing around her feet, jenna was reminded of the old sea tales of manta who in china had been scared off by professional dancers aboard fishing boats, while the king of Denmark had struck a special deal with the skates, that they could rule the ocean if the humans could have the land. Suddenly, from out of a nearby river, a man faced creature with a salamanders body slithered out of the ooze, instantly dampening jenna's enthusiasm for further exploration. She turned her thoughts west as she climbed into the massive cannon sitting on the shore, luckily the honey had not effected the firing mechanism, as she flew west for further explorations. The ground whizzed by below her, only glimpses were visible through the patches in the the canopy like a zoetrope. As the arc of her trajectory brought her hurtling back to earth, she was amused to see she would soon be crashing a little garden party taking place in a glass atrium with several well-dressed ambassador-types and one elegant if (disheveled) young man.

Oliver was quietly entertaining a detachment of the curious with his brilliantly elegant felt zoetrope when jenna came crashing through the glass ceiling and landed perfectly on the table in front of him. Jenna was embarrassed yet grateful to have crushed the felt contraption on the table when she landed as it had saved her from grave injury. She apologized, blushing, to the elegant man and his company as she shook shook glass out of her hair -code for, “you're fascinating.” Oliver was thrilled by her appearance and kissed her, code for, “let's get married.”
