Stormwater planters slow run-off through soil permeation, evaporation,
transpiration and storage. They also aid in some pollutant removal.
Water from the roof is transported and emptied into
plant containers using downspouts, then water infiltrates the soil and gravel
at the base of the planter. Water is slowly released into the groundwater.
If the amount of water flowing into the planter surpasses the amount allowed
for permeation, water runs over to the next part of the stormwater management system.
