The problem in our urban environment

In our urban environment, the rain which runs off impervious surfaces such as roof tops and pavement (roads, parking areas, etc) carries pollutants from our everyday actvities to the ocean.

To protect our ocean from pollution (tiny particles and nutrients) contained in runoff, we must treat the runoff as near its source as is practical.

The idea is to employ the best procedure, strategy or method to "slow, spread, and sink" the runoff water on the site with the goal of improving water quality to protect wildlife, drinking water, and recreational water resources.

If we infiltrate storm water, we allow the soil ecosystem to naturally filter and digest pollutants and recharge ground water.
